Swedish Massage
Uses specific techniques to manipulate the client’s muscle tissues to promote
relaxation, increase circulation, and reduce muscle adhesions. Techniques used
typically include effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, friction, and swedish
gymnastics.
DeepTissue
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures
of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage
uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the
pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of
massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots.
It’s important to drink a lot of water after a deep tissue massage to help
flush lactic acid out of the tissues. If you don’t, you might be sore the next
day.
Neuromuscular
Injury and
various traumas may cause pain and interfere with nerve transmitters.
Neuromuscular therapy works to stabilize neurological activity and repair soft
tissue function. This relaxes the muscle and allows the release of lactic acid
from the area. Practitioners believe that this allows the return of oxygen and
blood flow to the affected area.
Structural
This therapy
works to release the body’s misalignment, which causes pain, by working in the
body’s myofacial system,restoring it to it’s natural balance,alignment length
& ease.
Myofascial
This is the
manual massage technique for stretching the fascia&releasing bonds between
fascia, integument,&muscles with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing
range of motion & equilibrioception.
Ashiatsu
“Foot pressure” is the literal translation. This type of massage therapy is one where the therapist walks on the client’s back, using bars&other props for support to vary pressure&weight.
